The Life & Jewels of Maria Callas
Possibly one of the most iconic "Divas" of our time, Maria Callas was an exceptional performer who mastered Bel Canto technique when it came to Opera.
After an unhappy childhood, controlled mostly by her Mother, she became one of the world’s leading operatic stars in the 1950's and '60's. Her career lead her to sing in all the world’s major opera houses, while her re-invention when it came to her appearance made her one other the most glamorous stars of this time.
With sadness, success and tragedy she caught the world by storm and also the eye of her long-term lover Aristotle Onassis, only to be thwarted at the altar by Jackie Kennedy. She died at an early age, some say of a broken heart, with a much smaller jewellery collection than previously thought.
