Whether it’s a sign of the times or that people are wanting to realise on their jewels, I find I am being asked more and more to sell some really lovely pieces on consignment.  This past month was no exception with there being two pieces in particular I’d like to tell you about.

The first is this wonderful Essex Crystal brooch depicting a kingfisher flying over a lake with a fish in its mouth. Made around 1880 and with a diameter of 30mm it’s probably the largest example of an Essex crystal I’ve ever handled where the subject matter is so clear and detailed. Added to this it comes in its original box which always adds a further character to an already special piece.
