Join Adrian Dickens of Circa AD Jewels (personal jeweller and ArtsNational lecturer) and Kenneth Park (historian, curator, ArtsNational lecturer and cultural ambassador) for a "double act".
Kenneth Park will speak on "Hollywood and Movie Star Homes". The movie-star homes of Los Angeles feature sprawling, ultra-private, multimillion-dollar architectural estates that blend classic Hollywood grandeur with modern luxury. Hollywood was laid out in 1887 and would eventually become the hub of the burgeoning American film industry. As Hollywood’s influence grew, movie stars and other celebrities began choosing homes that reflected the architectural tastes of what came to be known as Old Hollywood. These properties often featured Spanish Colonial Revival, Mediterranean, and Monterey styles, with red-tile roofs, stucco walls, arched doorways, landscaped courtyards, and expansive gardens.
Some of these residences were designed by legendary architects such as Wallace Neff, whose work helped define the image of California glamour. Streets such as Roxbury Drive…
